Friday Update

Hi everyone

Today we presented to the joint RFSA Community Engagement Consultative Committee. Firstly we gave them an update on the projects the team is currently working on.

A quick overview for you:
~ Fact Sheets: 4 more will be released in the coming fortnight. We have had quite a few requests to make these an item you can order already printed. We will explore the budgetary implications of this.
~ We updated on the recent HotSpots activities.
~ Aider property visits are running ahead of forecast and we have visited just over 100 more properties this year than we had at the same time last year.
~ Planning for our annual Australasian Community Engagement and Fire Awareness Conference held in May each year has commenced. We hope to make some announcements on this by mid November.
~ Update on Bush Fire Survival Plan which is now due out in the second half of November. It has some exciting changes like a magnet to stick it to the fridge, a kids pullout section and all new pictures and is designed along the same lines as the fact sheets.
~ Speakers Program is running behind and we are now aiming for December. The first topics released will be Neighbourhood Safer Places, Fire Danger Ratings and PREPARE. ACT. SURVIVE.
~ We are developing key message cards that will be clipped to a caribeener. Each card is around the size of a normal playing card, will be laminated and will have key messages and information about key topics such as Fire Danger Ratings, Neighbourhood Safer Places and Bush Fire Alerts. These cards are designed to support you when interacting with the community.

The Consultative Committee were very active and provided constructive feedback and suggestions such as ensuring we deliver on the COUP DVD. This committee is a really great advocate for the work that our Community Engagement practitioners deliver.

We are currently on our way to Tamworth for the Region North Community Engagement Forum. The theme is Making Engagement Engaging. We will keep you updated over the weekend....
