The 17th Australian Community Engagement and Fire Awareness Conference will be held Thursday 22 to Saturday 24 May 2014.
The ACEFA Conference was held annually from 1998 until 2012. A decision was made in late 2012 to hold the conference biannually, with the first biannual conference scheduled for 2014. The change in the delivery cycle has provided an opportunity to reinvigorate the conference and enhance learning opportunities for participants.
The venue for 2014 ACEFA Conference is the Novotel Northbeach Wollongong, where the 2011 and 2012 conferences were held.
The conference theme for 2014 is Mission Possible. The National Strategy for Disaster Resilience reflects that disaster resilience is a shared responsibility. Communities can see their risk very differently from place to place. This conference will be focused on sharing, adopting, adapting and applying good practice to build resilience to bush fires now and into the future. Along the road to resilience, everything is possible.
Registrations for the 2014 conference will open in late January 2014.
More information will be available in the near future on MyRFS. Be sure to log in and check the Community Engagement page under Conferences & Forums > ACEFA Conference regularly.
If you have any queries, email the team at acefa.conference@rfs.nsw.gov.au.
